Karliah’s transformation from the cute little pale girl to the tall, thick and tanned girl is something for sure. Sayuri was told by a lot of people to keep Karliah pale and short, and not make her into the beautiful woman that she turns out to be. Sayuri doesn’t think Karliah and Justin would be as cute of a couple if Karliah wasn’t tan and beautiful like that.

Karliah has looked like this as an adult for the longest time, and Sayuri refuses to change her! This Karliah was around long before kid Karliah was! As a child, she was never allowed outside without her parents around, as her parents didn’t want her hurt. So, she developed very pale skin as a child. The day Karliah turned 18, and was allowed outside, she loved being out in the Sun all the time, and even ran around naked outside when no one else was around or looking, giving her a full body tan!

Justin and Karliah holding hands is a lovely contrast, Pale against Tan. Justin takes after for the most part, with his eyes and gender being the only exception to that. I will explain why when we cut back to Typhon and Mari later on, as I don’t want to give too much away here this early!
